HERON is a Group of companies active in the Production, Supply and Trading of electricity. Having started operations as early as 2000, it now has the support of three major energy groups.
HERON was founded by the GEK TERNA Group, which holds a leading position in the field of energy production from conventional and Renewable Sources (RES) in Greece and internationally. In 2009, ENGIE (formerly GDF Suez), the largest independent producer and supplier of electricity in the world, entered the stock composition. In addition, in March 2014, the entry of QATAR PETROLEUM (through the company QPI GAS & POWER OPC.), another global leader in the energy map, into the share capital of the HERON II power plant was successfully completed.
HERON is the first private Group to operate within the framework of the liberalized energy market in Greece. It built and has been operating successfully since 2004, the first private power plant in Greece. In 2009, a second combined cycle station followed in the same location.
HERON participates essentially in the National Energy Planning and Planning, its stations are the epitome of technology and their operation is fully harmonized with market requirements.
